Pratt & Whitney Canada is an industry leader in the design, manufacture and maintenance of APUs, a position built from its foundation as a major supplier of gas turbine engines for a host of turboprop, turbofan and turboshaft aircraft. Pratt & Whitney Canada developed the first all-electric APU for a large commercial aircraft, which is the quietest APU in its class with the lowest emissions in the industry.

APS5000 Enters Into Service

The APS5000, developed specifically for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, entered into service as the first all-electric auxiliary power unit (APU) for large commercial aircraft. It is the quietest-operating and lowest-emitting APU in its class.
